Matlatzinca or Pirinda
Matlatzinca or Pirinda (Botuná in its native language) is the name that is used to refer to different indigenous peoples of Mexico that live from the valley of Toluca in the Mexico state, to the east of Michoacán. It was during the postclassic period that the Matlazincas or Pirindas populated the valley of Guayangareo, today Morelia, and the Charo town. In century XV and XVI they arrived at Huetamo, where they founded the district that at the moment takes the name of the Pirindas, and in whose shield appears a pirinda indigenous. At the moment, we can also find population of this ethnic group in the region of Tierra Caliente.
